| It started when I was 18 and had a Dane named Black Sabbath Maximus,aka Sabbath, I was young and had no idea the responsiblity it takes to raise a Dane. I was pregnant with my first child and loved this dog with all of my heart. Unable to keep him and live in a small apartment,we parted ways. I have loved the breed all my life, and while raising 3 children one with special needs,the dream never died, I had a dream about raising Great Danes, that gentle giant of dogs that inspire so much awe, respect and love. Now that my children are grown and my time is my own again I asked my husband if I could have a Great Dane, sweet heart that he is, he never knew what hit him. What a wonderful dream we have embarked on, Great Danes are loyal, gentle and basically lap dogs stuck in a giant body.
